Sunday services

8:00

Holy Communion: A Book of Common Prayer service celebrated at the nave high altar. (~40 minutes)

09:15

Modernised Holy Communion: This is a service where children are actively encouraged to participate and enjoy themselves. Singing, praying, Godly Play, and  the Eucharist are all included! While designed for families, the relaxed nature of this service means it is  well attended by people of all ages. (~45 minutes)

10:30

Solemn High Mass (full choir): Taken from common worship liturgy, this service is more traditional. Much of the service is sung by the choir and clergy. We enjoy our Anglo-Catholic tradition at this service with incense, processions and a full sanctuary.(~1 hour)

18:30

Evensong: Standard Book of Common Prayer evensong. Choral evensong takes place on the first Sunday of every month. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament also occurs on the fourth Sunday of the month.

Feast Days

At the Abbey we keep most feast and Saint days celebrating them with a big procession, full choir, lots of incense, and special hymns. Feasts at the Abbey are grand affairs which are fun for everyone involved.

Music

Choir

Our choir has a broad Anglican repertoire. Rehearsals are every Friday evening from 19:00 – 20:30 (junior choristers rehearse from 18:30 – 20:00). The choir is musically proficient and socially active. Part of the junior chorister experience is RSCM Voice for Life training, giving them an opportunity to grow musically and earn medals.

Organ

Built by James Davis of Preston, the organ was donated to the Abbey in 1793 by Miss Anne Farmer. The instrument was restored in 1954 with a new console (the original is on display under the West tower).

Personnel

Director of Music: Mr. Rob Goodrich
