Wheelchair Users

If you have any questions or comments about access, please contact our Parish Manager – details on the Contact Us page.

  • The Main Entrance

The Abbey is approached by a tarmac pathway which is virtually level. There are no steps. There is limited car access for those who need to get close to the door, but we do ask that you drive carefully – we have a lot of walkers along our paths! You may park near the main entrance if you are a blue badge holder.

  • Toilets

A wheelchair accessible toilet is available inside the Abbey – just ask the Welcomer for directions.

  • Taking part in worship services

There is level access to the areas of the Abbey where services are normally held. On Sundays, at the main Sung Eucharist service, wheelchair users and others may either come up to the altar rail or ask the duty churchwarden for the sacrament to be brought to them where they are sitting.

Other Needs

  • Guide, hearing and assistance dogs

All dogs are welcome. We keep a supply of biscuits at the welcome desk. Just ask!

  • Gluten Free

Gluten free wafers are available at all Eucharist services. Should you wish to receive a gluten free wafer, please make this known to one of the welcomers or the duty Churchwarden before the service.

  • Hearing loop

The Abbey is equipped with a hearing loop system which is in use during services. Please switch your hearing aid to "T".
