May God grant us the patience of Sarah,
And her trust in His promises,
As she awaited the fulfilment of His purposes.
May God grant us the resourcefulness of Miriam,
As sister, daughter and servant of the Lord
That we, like her, may share a song of joy and liberation.
May God grant us the courage of Ruth,
And her faith in the future,
Even in unknown and foreign territory.
May God grant us the faith of Elizabeth,
As she recognised Mary as the mother of God,
And embraced her own part in God’s plan.
May God grant us the peace of Anna,
After long and faithful waiting,
In the joyful recognition of her Saviour.
May God grant us the steadfastness of Mary,
The depth of her love,
Even at the foot of the cross of her Son.
