Worship and Music
The lifeblood that courses through the veins of Wymondham Abbey is the worship of God, carried out in a daily pattern of services in this place since 1107. Whether you join us with the many hundreds who worship in the Abbey at Christmas or Easter, or visit by yourself to light a candle and say a prayer, you can be assured of a warm welcome, which is part of our Benedictine Tradition of hospitality – “All guests who present themselves are to be welcomed as Christ, for he himself will say: ‘I was a stranger, and you welcomed me’ (Matthew 25.35)”.
Music is at the heart of our worship at the Abbey, and accompanied by our fine organs, the Abbey Choir sings at the Sung Eucharist and Choral Evensong on Sundays, as well as at Weddings, and other special feasts of the Church year. “Qui bene cantat bis orat: He who sings prays twice” (St Augustine of Hippo)
