The new Abbey Experience is designed to allow children and adults to learn about the history of the Abbey and the town. This can be linked in to any learning objective, everything from a quick browse of our fascinating displays to an in-depth study of documents in our nationally important archives.


Wymondham Abbey is the perfect place for school trips for students of any age. We offer a range of Learning Experience Days and Tour and Explore trips which can be adapted to suit the needs of your learners. Call our Learning and Events Coordinator on 01953 607062 to start planning your trip now!

Example Learning Experience Days include:

  • ‘A day in the life of a medieval monk’
  • Bespoke RE days
  • ‘Signs and Symbols’
  • KS3 Living History - a day of meeting medieval people and exploring the sights, sounds and smells of medieval life

Are you home schooling? If so you are most welcome to access our Learning facilities and resources – do contact us to find out what we can offer and how we can support your child’s learning journey.


We welcome visits from community, adult education, church and art groups, and are pleased to arrange introductory talks and tours if required. The Abbey is the perfect venue for groups to meet and learn more about the heritage of this special place. A self-guided adult trail is available or alternatively you may prefer to book a Guided Tour with our friendly and knowledgeable guides. Refreshments can also be arranged if booked in advance.
