Serving refreshmentsWe welcome visitors from all over the world. With our recently completed development project, we now have fine displays explaining the fascinating history of the Abbey, the parish church and the town. We have artefacts and documents from our archives on display, some of which are over 500 years old. On these pages you will find information about how to get the best out of your visit.

The Abbey is normally closed to visitors from 30 mins before a funeral for around an hour.

We are open almost every weekday of the year from 10:00am, and on Sunday afternoons in the summer.  The Abbey does close occasionally for special events such as funerals. Do check this website or with the Parish office (see Contact Us page) if you are travelling any distance to ensure that we will be open. Entry is completely free, although we do ask that you leave a donation to help towards the running costs of the church, which are considerable.

The Abbey Shop

We have a well-equipped shop within the Abbey selling souvenirs, local produce, all sorts of books and religious items.  It’s worth a visit on its own!
