Our varied Sunday afternoon talks programme returns with this first talk
The Medieval Churches of Norwich in Art 1720-2017
The talk, given by Dr Clare Haynes, is entitled ‘The Medieval Churches of Norwich in Art 1720-2017’. Over 58 medieval churches were known to have stood within walls of the city. Thirty one remain today, the largest concentration of urban medieval churches north of the Alps. They feature strongly in paintings and other artworks. This talk will be a fascinating insight into many aspects of these glorious buildings.
Clare Haynes is an art historian who specialises in eighteenth-century British religious culture. She currently teaches at the UEA.
Entry is free, and tea and biscuits will be served after the talk.
