Pram Service
Tuesdays 10am
On Tuesday mornings between 10 and 10:30 the Abbey is full of the sounds of babies and toddlers at the Pram Service. In its original form this was a Mother and Toddler group, founded by Fr John, with the help of the Mothers’ Union, which met on Tuesday afternoons in the Hall.
In 2001, Fr Bob changed this to the Pram Service as we know it today, in its Eucharistic format. We meet every week in the Abbey to share a carefully written service, which includes stories, prayers, simple songs and hymns accompanied by clapping, ringing, banging and shaking instruments of all shapes and sizes. Important parts of the proceedings are to ring the bell to begin, and to blow out the candles at the end.
After the service we have refreshments, play and chat in the Hall; a time of friendship and fellowship for children, parents, grandparents, carers, clergy, Angela, and Mothers Union members.
Very many children have been introduced to the Abbey and to worship through the Pram Service.
All babies and toddlers are welcome; please come along and bring your adults with you.
